The long-awaited Jenny Burton album is finally here – Something Old New Borrowed Blue. And the title tells you everything you need to know. This is an eclectic variety of music perfected by the heart-felt vocals of Burton and the music and lyrics of Peter Link. Even when Link isn’t writing the lyrics and music, he is arranging the standards (“The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” “What’ll I Do,” and more “borrowed” if you will) to fit the sublime execution of Burton. The “new” is quite astounding. Who could create an autobiographical song about a childhood spent in foster care and overcoming challenges (“My Every Step”)? You already know, and it is perky with a great beat – kind of like Jenny herself. “Standin’ On The Moon” is destined to become a mantra for those seeking peace and quiet, and I dare you to listen to “Stone In The Road,” a duet with Link and Burton, without singing it after the music stops. The “old” songs are just pure fun – “Boogie Down” and “Don’t It Feel Good,” and there are plenty of “blues” in between. A little something for everybody. Welcome back, Jenny!
