We know from the Bible that the apple plays a significant role in the future of humanity. This is also the case in Anushka Kar’s APPLES FOR AUGUST. Jude (Patrick Eckland) and August (Anushka Kar) meet in an apple orchard. Through conversations about apples, they reveal themselves and create an uneasy bond. The acting is superb. Although the pace of this production is slow, you find yourself hanging on to every word as you attempt to get to know these two diametrically different characters. Both have opposing views of the world and their role in it. Is it necessary for one to succumb to the other? Or can we all live in harmony? Time appropriate questions for today’s current events. Perhaps the answer lies in how we respond to the inevitable twists and turns of living.
