From the very first moment, the audience felt like voyeurs, not just watching a play but being immersed in the drama and pathos of the actors in Warsaw, Poland, just prior to the Nazi invasion. The dialog was rich and delivered with such poignancy and realism that you felt attached to the progression and the outcome of these heroes and anti-heroes as they wrestled with upholding art as a valuable legacy to society. The acting was sublime, and the music and the staging heightened the experience's intensity. The subtleties and nuances of food ingredients and musical notes made for a delightful comparison, delivered with enjoyment and delicacy. A finer production than BENEATH THE ICE OF THE VISTULA would be difficult to imagine.
