Eric Bogosian wrote HUMPTY DUMPTY 20 years ago. It was definitely ahead of its time then, and it may very well be a prediction of the future today. As two couples (Kirk Gostkowski, Christina Elise Perry, Marie Dinolan, and Gabriel Rysdahl) descend on an isolated cabin in Upstate New York for a week’s getaway in 2005, they bring with them all the things they are supposedly trying to escape. Flurries of cell phone calls, press agent demands, meetings, and games of one upmanship occur as each person attempts to establish their importance. There’s even a little time for condescending poking fun of the local yokel (Brandon Hughes). And then the power goes out. No more cell phones, no more electricity, no more “normal.” And just like during the pandemic (15 years after this was written), the tables turn and the folks with the accoutrements of standing must give way to the essential workers – the ones who can provide the indispensable elements of survival.

This production of HUMPTY DUMPTY is fantastic! The acting is superb, the pace is brisk, the set is perfectly tuned to the 1970’s, and the message seems to be eternal. See it, see it, see it!
